Get started on Mac

One Terminal command, sign in with your dashboard account, add your LMS host. About two minutes — SIP and AMFI stay on, no reboots.

macOS 13 (Ventura) or newer, Apple Silicon or Intel.

Tavra on Mac runs as a menu-bar app that acts as a local HTTPS proxy — it terminates TLS to the exam site, injects a tiny script, and streams events to lite.trytavra.com. No kernel extensions, no dylib injection, no security toggles.

The short version

Install Tavra — one Terminal command, your Mac password once.
Sign in — same email + password as the dashboard. No pairing code.
Add your LMS — the domain your exams live on. That's the only thing Tavra touches.
Learn the hotkeys — five Ctrl+Shift chords: overlay, screenshot, typing mode, send, phone.
Set up the phone companion — for proctored or screen-recorded exams, this is not optional.

Updating

Updates are automatic to notice, manual to apply (by design — nothing changes on your Mac mid-exam-week without you saying so). When a new version is out, the Tavra window shows an orange Version X available banner:

Click Copy on the banner
Quit Tavra (menu-bar icon → Quit)
Paste the command into Terminal, enter your Mac password

That's the same one-line installer — it replaces the app and relaunches it. Settings, sign-in, and your host list all carry over.

Uninstall

One command reverses everything the installer did:

curl -fsSL https://app.trytavra.com/mac/install.sh | sudo bash -s -- --uninstall

Removes the app, pf anchor, root CA, and user data. Your Mac is back to how it was. (The in-app Disconnect button is the lighter version — it stops interception and removes the certificate but keeps the app installed.)
